The Shorefront YM-YWHA has a full array of programs that empower adult immigrants to improve their English literacy skills, learn basic computer skills and prepare for employment, new careers and United States citizenship.

More than 2,000 adults are involved in our programming every year!

 

 

English as a Second Language (ESL)

English as a Second LanguageOur Adult Literacy Program offers more than 100 classes a year at convenient times and locations. There is an average of 20 classes per day, taught in the morning, afternoon or evening in six locations throughout South Brooklyn.

All of our classes are FREE of charge and meet two to three times a week. Excellent bi-lingual specialists teach students who come from more than 50 countries.

Vocational Assistance

Vocational TrainingWe believe in getting job seekers the advice and counseling they need to explore new career opportunities, change course or get on their feet.

We help motivated adults in making the transition to higher learning and provide support along the way to success. Additionally, we offer career planning, resume and cover letter writing, job readiness, placement and retention counseling and career seminars.

Citizenship Assistance

Citizenship AssistanceOur staff assists with translation, informational resources, referrals and support for all issues related to obtaining US citizenship.

The full range of our services is free and open to eligible participants. Additionally, we help with fee and disablity waivers, offer a special program for older refugees and refer clients for free or low-fee immigration legal services.
